Many women will have ovarian cysts in their lifetime; however the majority of the ovarian cysts will come and go without us knowing about them, or feeling them. Out of all the women, there are several women that have ovarian cysts, and are very much aware of them. Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs on your ovaries. They can vary in size from the size of an almond to the size of a baseball. You can get one at a time or many at a time.
The more common of the symptoms that are associated with ovarian cysts include: increased cramping, weight gain you cannot associate with anything, pain in your pelvic/low abdomen area, pain in the lower back, or a sudden irregular or stopping of menstrual cycles. If you are experiencing at least one of these, it is important that you go to your doctor and get checked out to determine if it is ovarian cysts or another diagnosis.
If it is determined that it is ovarian cysts, you may feel very overwhelmed and anxious emotionally and in a lot of pain physically. You most likely want nothing more than to get rid of the pain and the ovarian cyst(s). Well, the good news is, there is relief from ovarian cysts!
Once you and your doctor determined it was ovarian cysts, the possible ways of treatment most likely came up. You were most likely told that there were three options: pain pills, surgery, or birth control pills. Your doctor probably went through the possible side effects for each of those, and you may have determined that you did not like any of those choices, or you may be still deciding. If not, here are some things to think about while deciding what is best.
You have most likely already been taking any over the counter pain pills that you can find, and they are most likely not doing any good, or if it is not much at all. Your option would be to have prescription pain pills, which would most likely help a little more, however you most likely will feel drowsy and lethargic and feel like you are not even able to live your life and enjoy it.
Surgery is not my favorite word, and probably not one of yours either. It is an outpatient surgery, and would most likely be done by laparoscopy, by inserting a probe with a video camera attached to it, and a small torch device to burn the cyst off. You would have very little to no scarring, as the incision is made in your belly button and your hip. When they burn the cyst off, there is a chance that they can burn some of the ovary itself, which may make getting pregnant in the future a little tough.
Along with having to deal with the common side effects of birth control pills of weight gain, and increased emotions, and having to be sure you take the pill the same time every day, the birth control will not take care of your ovarian cysts. Because the pill stops ovulation, and that is when ovarian cysts are formed, the pill will prevent any future cysts to grow, however, it does not treat your current ovarian cysts.
This is a lot of information to take in, and you may not know what the best choice is to do, if you even want to do any of them. Dealing with side effects, the insurance company and still not be completely confident that you would be done with ovarian cysts now and in the future. Great news-there are numerous natural cures that will treat your ovarian cysts now and prevent them in the future as well.
Heat is the most common natural remedy you can use for pain relief. You can either use a heating pad or using a towel that has been in the dryer for a few minutes. Putting heat on your lower abdomen for 15 minutes and then switching the heat to the lower back for 15 minutes, and continuing to do that as often as possible throughout they day. The heat increases blood flow to wherever the heat is concentrated on, in this case your ovary and the increased blood floor relieves pain.
As I said previously, there are thousands and thousands of women that have ovarian cysts but do not know they are there. There are also thousands of women that know they are there and suffer from it. The good news is is that the constant discomfort, annoyance and bloating can be gone before you know it, and you can start enjoying your life again!
